What equipment is in the kitchens? When is the swimming pool open? Does the pool conform to the French pool safety legislation? Is there heating in the winter and cooling in the summer? Can you advise where to find cheap travel? What is meant by wheelchair access? Can you cater for large groups of people? When do the weeks run from and do you do other days? Is wireless internet connection available? What equipment is in the kitchens? The kitchens have a microwave, fridge and either a cooker with an oven or a gas hob and oven. There is also a kettle, toaster and coffee machine as well as enough cutlery, crockery, pans and tools. Return to top of page What bbq's are there? There are several charcoal bbq's and a couple of gas bbq's. For the charcoal bbq's you provide your own charcoal (often we have some left by previous guests) and for the gas bbq's we make a small €2 charge to cover the cost of gas. Return to top of page Is there a washing machine? Yes there is a washing machine available at a cost of €5 per load. Return to top of page Is there a television? There is not a television in the accommodation but for major events like England football matches (not sure that is a major event these days) we put the television in the courtyard so everyone can watch. Return to top of page When is the swimming pool open? The pool is open from early in the morning until late at night. We do not impose time restrictions like many places. If you have been out all day the last thing you need is to return to find the pool has closed and you can't have a swim, so we keep it open for use to suit you. If it is being cleaned it will not be available, but we try to clean the pool early in the morning. At night if you are the last out we would be very happy if you put the cover on to keep the heat in. Return to top of page Does the pool conform to the French pool safety legislation? Yes. From May 2004 swimming pools in France that were used by gite guests had to be either fenced with a specific type of fence or had to have an alarm that detects both slow and quick emersion. We have an alarm that if not de-activated before you get in sounds a very loud alarm. If there is no movement detected in the pool the alarm re-sets itself after about two minutes. Return to top of page Is there heating in the winter and cooling in the summer? The Laurier and Pine cottages have gas fired central heating which in the cooler times is on in the morning and evenings, and available for other times at the cost of the gas. Pine Cottage has a wood burner in the sitting room and logs are available at cost. The Willow House has two wood-burners and gas central heating and the are the same as above. The apartments and B&B have convector heaters and the Pommier and Poirier apartments have an electric storage radiator as well. In the summer every bedroom has an electric fan in case it is too hot. Return to top of page Can you advise where to find cheap travel? On the website in the travel area are various links to websites that offer travel. Also because we advertise with Chez Nous, once you have booked with us we can give you a reference number to contact them for their travel services. They are able to get preferential prices from most of the ferry companies and Eurotunnel. Any other travel enquiries just ask us and we will try and help. Return to top of page Are long term lets available? Yes. We have had a few long term lets and we are happy to give you a price for a long term let. With a much more favourable climate here than in the UK, a long term stay anywhere between September and May can be better than staying in the UK. Return to top of page What is meant by wheelchair access? The Pommier and Cerise apartments have been designed to make their use by people in wheelchairs possible. The doorways are wider than normal, the beds can be raised if required, light switches and electric plugs are at waist level, and the showers are walk in showers. Return to top of page Can you cater for large groups of people? We have the space to cater comfortably for up to 24 people and a few more if needed. We have a large enclosed barn that has a wood burner for heating and is the ideal place to hold a party. We can also arrange for meals in the barn, for example a four course meal with wine is Euros 15 per person. If you are interested in anything like this please get in touch with us. Return to top of page Do you allow pets? Yes we do allow pets like cats and dogs (elephants and crocodiles we don't). We ask that they are kept under control at all times (dogs to be kept on a lead) and that the property is kept clean. Return to top of page When do the weeks run from and do you do other start days? The weeks normally run from Saturday to Saturday and in July and August we have to stick to this. Outside of July and August we are happy to give you a price for shorter stays and we can often be flexible on start and end days. Return to top of page Is wireless internet connection available? In August 2006 ADSL finally reached Parcay-les-Pins and a wireless internet connection is now available. We can not guarantee the strength of the signal to all parts of the property but we will try to make it as accessible as possible Return to top of page |
