About Us

larderfamilyHello and welcome to La Croix Joreau.
We are the Larder family and we would like to introduce you to La Croix Joreau, the surrounding area, and the many things to see and do in this region. And who knows you may even wish to come and stay!

We live here permanently and over the years have visited many of the places to see in the region so we are able to advise you on where to visit, how to get there and places to see on the way or other places to see when you get there.

In the evenings you may often find a group of people all sat together enjoying a glass of wine and a game of petanque, while the kids are safe to run around the gardens and play games of cricket, badminton or chase. Our wish is for you to have a wonderful holiday and we have many people returning every year.

A stay at La Croix Joreau is not your ordinary run of the mill holiday. It is a place where the pool does not close at 6 pm, so should you want a midnight dip or an early morning swim we will make it happen. Though we own and run this lovely place, it is the people who stay here who create the tremendous atmosphere. We moved here in 2004 and we have had people who have returned here many times and often when returning they bring friends with them. This summer will be one couples tenth summer visit as well as two at Easter.

La Croix Joreau is on the edge of the village of Parçay-les-Pins (pronounced Parsay-lay-Pan) and if you click on the link above you will be able to see an aerial photo showing where we are. Also you can now see where we are on Google street view – Rue Eugene Beunier – and explore the village as well. Here you will find the Boulangerie, Post Office, small but well stocked supermarket selling English papers, and the bar (which has recently re-opened with new French proprietors). The Jules Desbois Museum (a famous sculptor) is also in the village centre. Larger supermarkets are only ten minutes away at Vernoil and Noyant.

Situated a pleasant twenty minute drive north of Saumur, the village is on the edge of the Loire Anjou Touraine Natural Park. Because there are no main roads passing through the village the roads are very quiet which means they are safe for walking and cycling also the roads are very free of traffic which means that getting places is quick and stress free. The local area is mostly forest with some farms, and the main crop in the immediate area is apples. Parçay is in an excellent position to explore the Loire Valley, being at the most 45 minutes easy drive from any of the many attractions along the river between Angers and Tours.

Should you not wish to cook we offer a Table d’Hote meal in the evenings which has been very well received by all. Just let us know before hand and we can provide a meal in the evening – vegetarian option also available. Behind the buildings is a large area of grass ideal for games of football or cricket, and where the children’s swings and slides are. The swimming pool is in another private area and is sheltered from any wind so it is an ideal place to swim and sunbathe. With one and a half acres there is always plenty of space to do what you want.

A few miles from Parcay-les-Pins are the lakes at Hommes and Rille where there are plenty of areas for fishing, swimming, sailing, walking and cycling.

Being less than an hour from the circuit at Le Mans we are an ideal place to stay for the events there.
